My name is Joel Domoe. This is where I "show my work." That's a phrase and concept I have taken from W. Kamau Bell, who dropped it into his answer to the question, "What can we do?" in a video conversation with Conan O'Brien. When Conan asked the question, Bell first responded by clarifying that he assumes by "we" Conan means "white people." Bell then goes on to explain that "we need white people to not only do the work, but to show their work."
Maybe a half year to a year prior to viewing this video (which was shared by a friend - shout out to Jaya Dorf!), I had made a personal decision to dedicate significantly more time and energy to political activism. I had been doing some personal thinking and strategizing and had devised for myself three "pillars" of my personal activism. They are:

As an opinionated/self-proclaimed liberal, humanist, feminist, community organizer AND as a privileged, fragile, white guy, W. Kamau Bell's message was just the suggestion/challenge that I needed and it came to me at just the right time in my own journey. This site now bubbles to the surface of my efforts. As with just about everything I have done as an activist, the greatest recipient of the benefits of this work is me. My hope is that I can also provide some resources that help others too.
